So last night I watched this pile of shit. In short, Channel 5 are just taking big issues and adding random celebs and whomever they can get just for some big ‘shocking’ moments.
The fact they suddenly popped up an interview with Anjem Choudary during a debate about immigration proved they are just fishing for controversy and not really looking for learnings or actual opinion. Shit they had that Kate Hopkins and Luisa Zissman on a panel too. Just a load of crap with people shouting over one another.
Anyway, thats not the point – During the course of the show they kept referring back to YouGov stats from a survey taken by 1,869 people. Yet there were probably a couple million watching, most tweeting and posting arguments on Social channels. So why not tap into that?
Instead of random “I’m on TV’ tweets scrolling across the bottom of the screen, why not show realtime buzz. A graph in the corner of the screen – For and against, Buzz words, Sentiment, What topics are hot specific to this show. Instead of limited, dated YouGov surveys – why not use the data thats out there, as its happening.
It would have been amazing to see some form of graph spiking when you added that interview with that nutter. Then suddenly changing when that soap opera bloke made a point about the system being flawed.
Try it on your next one, which I’m guessing is something like this :
Next week on Channel 5, the causes of World War I, debated by Samantha Brick, H out of Steps, Noel Edmonds and Cat Bin Lady.
